Oil Change in Ottawa, ON

Regular oil changes are an important part of the recommended maintenance schedule for your vehicle helping to prolong your engine and keep your car running smoothly. At Jim Tubman Chevrolet our highly qualified Certified Service Technicians are trained to understand how your vehicle uses oil and how it monitors oil life. An oil change from your Certified Service experts not only gives you great service, convenience and a great price, you also receive the added value of knowing that nobody knows your vehicle better.

WE SERVICE ALL MAKES & MODELS

To maintain optimum performance of your engine, oil levels should be checked on a regular basis. Checking the oil is quick and easy. With the engine off, open the vehicle’s hood and find the dipstick. Pull the dipstick out from the engine and, with a rag or paper towel, wipe any oil off from its end. Then insert the dipstick back into its holder and push it all the way in. Pull it back out and this time look at both sides of the dipstick to see where the oil is on the end. Every dipstick has some way of indicating the proper oil level, whether it be two pinholes, the letters L and H (low and high), the words MIN and MAX, or simply an area of crosshatching. If the top of the oil ‘streak’ is between the two marks or within the crosshatched area, the level is fine.

If you have questions, please ask one of our Certified Service Advisors or check your vehicle’s owner’s manual.

Engine Oil Life Monitoring System

All new Chevrolet vehicles are equipped with an Engine Oil Life Monitoring System. The built-in system interprets your vehicle’s temperature, driving habits and continuously monitors operating conditions which helps determine when it is the appropriate time.

When your Oil Life Monitoring System determines it is time for an oil change, a message will be illuminated on the instrument panel or driver information center when the vehicle is first started. An oil change should be done within two fuel tank-fill-ups from when the message was first displayed.

Jim Tubman Chevrolet Certified Service Technicians recommend that the first oil change on a new vehicle be completed at six months or 8,000 kms, whichever occurs first.
